Listed buildings … new lives

Thornton Manor is one of the finest Grade II Listed Buildings in the Northwest. The Partnership has been associated with design proposals for Thornton Manor since the property and grounds were sold by the Leverhulme family in 2001.

Our original commission was to prepare design proposals for the Manor House, stable block and other outbuildings to create an upmarket boutique hotel with additional health spa and bistro facilities. We successfully obtained support from English Heritage. Planning Permission and Listed Building consents were subsequently granted. Market conditions ultimately prejudiced the viability of the clients’ proposals and the property was sold on.

We are currently working with the new owners in refurbishing three of the Estate cottages and assisting with the development of further alternative leisure activity proposals within the property and grounds.
