The scheme was developed with Wirral Methodist Housing Association and formed the first ‘Shared ownership specialist sheltered scheme’ in the North West. The apartments were specifically designed for a group of families wishing to help their children develop independent living. The bungalow included for shared accommodation for high dependency end users and included much attention to accessibility and social inclusion. The scheme received an award from The Federation of Master Builders for ‘Building Excellence’.
The design also won ‘Best New Affordable Housing Scheme’ catergory at the ‘Housing Excellence Awards 2009 on May 13th 2009. The Housing Excellence Awards celebrate companies that make social housing work, whether by constructing houses, running social housing schemes or developing products and services that aid with housing issues.
